As local residents meeting in Benimassot we are profoundly concerned about the environmental, social and economic consequences that the implementation of the Valencian Community Wind Power Plan will have on our area: the ruin of a historic landscape, which is the expression of an ecological relationship that we and our ancestors have shaped with our own work. A landscape that, now that agriculture is in decline, opens the door to a new economic activity, which allows us to continue living in our houses and on our land in a way that is consistent with our roots and respects our surroundings. Rural tourism, which has been backed both by private initiative and government money, is seriously threatened by an industrial Wind Power Plan that is rejected by tourists who want to enjoy this kind of leisure.

We also declare that a decision with such a significant impact on our future requires a law passed in the Parliament of the Valencian Community, within the framework of an ENERGY PLAN FOR THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY, which does not currently exist, and not simply a government resolution. We also feel we have been misinformed and manipulated.

For this reason, freely and democratically exercising our right to express an opinion, we ask our political representatives to help us, and join us in asking for THIS WIND POWER PLAN TO BE HALTED and a full, in-depth and democratic debate to be initiated, that will serve to guide our future energy policy and not tarnish a clean form of energy, such as wind power, in the interests of the few.
